Hillary Gets Friendly With GOP Leaders

More signs that Hill wants to be the new Bill.

Last week, Clinton joined Majority Leader Bill Frist (R-Tenn.) to launch yet another bipartisan joint venture, this one on health-information technology.

“Together we share an important goal: to improve healthcare quality and reduce costs though the program, Frist said on the floor, while describing the legislation he introduced along with “the distinguished senator from New York.

Clinton was more willing to offer personal praise for Frist, expressing her appreciation on the floor for his “leadership on the issue. “I’m pleased to be introducing this legislation today with the majority leader, she said. “It’s a priority for both of us.

Clinton denies any political motive to her bipartisan cooperation. “I’m just focused on trying to get things done, she told The Hill. “I consider the legislation I work on important to the people I represent.

Yet the bills Clinton has co-sponsored this year are supported by some of the chamber’s most ambitious Republicans, even though the subjects are sometimes banal.

More from…well…The Hill.
