Rove, Attorneys And The Great Unraveling

Wow.
The administration could very well squander what remaining credibility it has left with most of the nation. See, Rove at least promoted the idea of firing the attorneys, and apparently Gonzales knew about the idea before he became AG.
March 15, 2007 � New unreleased e-mails from top administration officials show that the idea of firing all 93 U.S. attorneys was raised by White House adviser Karl Rove in early January 2005, indicating Rove was more involved in the plan than the White House previously acknowledged.The e-mails also show that Attorney General Alberto Gonzales discussed the idea of firing the attorneys en masse weeks before he was confirmed as attorney general.
The e-mails directly contradict White House assertions that the notion originated with recently departed White House counsel Harriet Miers, and was her idea alone.
Well, Harriet has to be smiling a little bit today, no? But still, could it be the case that she suggested it and Rove promoted it? Hmm, possible, but we won’t know until the emails are released. Still, it seems like most politically suspect moves by this administration eventually lead back to Rove.
George, don’t you think it’s time to let this guy go already? He’s been an architect alright…and has shredded your credibility in the process.

What a bunch of screwups! They take a perfectly legal & reasonable, though quite unusual, action. Somehow they manage to turn it into a crime that alienates people who would normally remain loyal to them & guarantees that more Admin members will serve prison time.
The first lie was to the public about the reasons for the firing - performance issues. This angered the fired Attorneys enough to go public with their version of events, which uncovered possible wrongdoing from other Republicans, outside the Admin. Damage minor. Then they lie about who knew what when, including lying to Congress, who has access to the documents which prove they are liars. The only people on the planet who still believe them are the Faithful Sheeple.
One trouble with lying is remembering which lie you told to who. Another is lying becomes so much of a habit that your automatic response is to lie in every situation, without regard to if it is a useful lie or not. And still another is the more lies you get caught in, the more it looks like you really, really do have many, many reasons to lie.
These jokers are destroying themselves & their Party by sheer stupidity & paranoia. Looks like they took their playbook from Tricky Dickey (Nixon, not Cheney) & expect a different result.

This is just like you left wing libs,you are having a fit over these firings,but you refuse to say anything about Bill clinton firing all 93 u.s. attorneys when he was in office,so typical.

George: You just don’t get it do you? You can’t blame this on Clinton. Bushco got caught lying to congress and is going down for it big time. Republicans will never rule in again in our lifetime THANK GOD since they have screwed up our country it will take a lifetime to fix the mess they have made. How do you sleep at night? IDIOT.

The Clinton argument is spurious considered as a defense. If they believe that he did wrong then, they must conclude that Bush is wrong now. And maybe he WAS wrong. Who the hell cares? He’s not the issue anymore.

There is something very different about firing all 93 U.S. attorneys at once in the beginning of your presidency than in selecting a few “disloyal” attorneys six years later. I know an assistant DA of a city, and every DA was required to hand in their resignation just in case when a new party took over. (He was rehired, but some weren’t). If you do it in the beginning to everyone, you’re not singling anyone out and you aren’t commenting on their work, you’re just getting in people you prefer. But to take prosecutors out who are in the middle of investigations that might make you look bad, that is a different kettle of fish entirely!
