Obama and Clinton Have Private Meeting

By Alan Stewart Carl | Related entries in 2008 Election, Barack, Democrats, Hillary

Yesterday evening, at Hillary Clinton’s Washington home, the New York Senator had a private meeting with Barack Obama. So private, in fact, no one else was in the room.

What did they discuss? No one knows. But I bet it had something to do with uniting the party. As much as Clinton obviously wanted this nomination, I believe she wants a Democratic president even more. And I believe, once they cool down, her supporters will feel the same. Clinton can do a lot to make sure those who voted for her stay within the Democratic fold.

This private meeting was almost certainly a chance for these two proud senators to bury or at least begin burying the hatchet. Do not doubt they will coordinate efforts going forward. Even if Obama does not choose Clinton as VP, I expect her to be an important figure in the Democratic campaign.

Update by Justin Gardner:
It appears as if the meeting happened at Senator Dianne Feinstein’s house.

Ah, the private dicker and handshake! Yet we probably won’t know the sales price for months.

For Obama’s sake, I sure hope he didn’t buy into that VP thing. Clinton as VP does not improve his odds nearly as well (if at all) as Clinton as Obama booster and stumper does.

The only thing Clinton wants more than to be president is to be Supreme Overload of the Known Universe.

Maybe they decided to make a Democratic super-baby.
